New Angle Prize Winners

The first prize winners in this new biennial award for a recently published book

"of literary merit associated with or inspired by East Anglia (Norfolk, Suffolk or North Essex)"

were announced on September 22nd, 2009 at Ickworth House in Suffolk. At the awards dinner, hosted by Paul Heiney, the judges Ronald Blythe, Anne Parry and DJ Taylor, gave their verdict as

First Prize of £2,000 for “Crow Country” by Mark Cocker. Jonathan Cape, 2007

Runner-up award of £500 for Meg Rosoff's "What I Was". Penguin Books, 2008

A special 'Highly Commended' award for the late Roger Deakin's "Notes from Walnut Tree Farm". Penguin Books, 2008
