The winner of the 2011 New Angle Prize for Literature was announced on Wednesday 7th September at a gala dinner held at the Belstead Brook Hotel in Ipswich. The authors of all six shortlisted books were present to hear Nicci Gerrard on behalf of the judges panel talk of their difficulty in deciding on a winner and runner-up from such a strong and diverse field.

The winner, receiving a cheque for £2,000 from sponsors Gotelee Solicitors, was Jim Kelly for "Death Watch".

Runner-up, receiving £500, was Ronald Blythe for "Aftermath".

A separate Readers Award, organised by the East Anglian Daily Times, went to "The Aldeburgh Scallop" by Maggi Hambling.

This biennial award is for a recently published work "of literary merit associated with or inspired by East Anglia (Norfolk, Suffolk or North Essex)". Entries for the 2011 competition were published between 1st April 2009 and 31st December 2010.
